Shreveport recently hosted its 10th annual Geek’d Con at the Shreveport Convention Center, making a decade of bringing together fans of comics, films, television, gaming, and pop culture. The convention has been one of the largest of its kind in the region, drawing thousands of attendees to celebrate fandom while also showcasing creative energy of local enthusiasts. This year’s lineup featured notable guests such as Jason Lee, widely recognized for his roles in Alvin and the Chipmunks and the television series My Name Is Earl; Andy Black, the lead singer of Black Veil Brides; and David Howard Thornton, best known for portraying the chilling Art the Clown in the Terrifier film series.

In addition to celebrity appearances, Geek’d Con has grown a thriving cosplay community. Over the years, cosplay at Geek’d Con has grown from a few costumed participants into a major attraction, with elaborate creations and a competition that shows the dedication and artistry of fans. Cosplay not only provides a creative outlet but also fosters inclusivity and connection among attendees who share similar passions.

What makes Geek’d Con especially unique is its guiding motto: “For local Geeks. By local geeks.” This saying highlights the commitment to celebrate Shreveport’s remarkable residents. By prioritizing community, Geek’d con helps empower local vendors, artists, and fans to showcase their work and connect with others. After ten years, Geek’d Con continues to be more than just an event, it is a center of culture that celebrates fandom and highlights the strength of local creativity and solidarity.
