The LSU Shreveport Pilots baseball team have accomplished something that has only been done eight times in school history- a first-place finish in the RRAC baseball tournament. This marks the Pilots' fifth title in six years. With their sights set on the NAIA tournament that begins in just four days, the Pilots are more focused than ever.

Although the Pilots finished third in the RRAC this year, they display the chemistry of a championship team. Individual members of the team were awarded high honors including head coach Al Cantwell who earned RRAC Coach of the Year for the third year in a row. Eight Pilot players were named to the RRAC All-Tournament team to include Alex Montero, who set new LSUS individual records this year.

The NAIA Tournament will last from May 17-May 20 and will consist of 45 teams in a double-elimination setting. However, the bigger prize awaits in Lewiston, Idaho. Should the Pilots win their opening round of the NAIA tournament, they will advance to Lewiston for the Avista-NAIA World Series. Defending NAIA World Series Champions, Lewis-Clark State Warriors will host the event.
