Boil Advisories Expand Across Shreveport and Bossier [1]
Officials cite pump failures in Shreveport and water line tie-ins in Bossier as causes
Shreveport residents are once again under a boil advisory. The order went into effect yesterday after officials reported pump failures at a booster station that caused a sharp drop in water pressure. City leaders say residents should boil water for a full minute before drinking or cooking with it.
Today, the advisory is widening. According to KTBS [3], Bossier residents are now affected as well—though for a different reason. A contractor working on tie-ins to the water system is requiring an additional advisory across parts of the parish.
While officials describe these advisories as precautionary, some residents are frustrated by the scope and frequency of the alerts. Just earlier this summer, a similar notice was issued on June 5 for portions of southeast Shreveport.
Ending the cycle of advisories will likely depend on more consistent maintenance, stronger infrastructure, and clearer communication with the public. Long-term improvements could help ensure that residents aren’t left guessing about the safety of their drinking water.
Update: The advisory was lifted August 26th - 1:55 pm.
